Genetic Counselor, Oncology, Centra's Pearson Cancer Center
DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITES:- Provide cancer risk assessment and genetic counseling services to individuals with a suspected inherited predisposition to cancer- Reviews available genetic testing options with the patient/family.- Coordinate genetic testing for at risk individuals and provide appropriate pre-test and post-result counseling.- Member of a health care team and acts as a patient advocate as well as a genetic resource to physicians.- The Oncology genetic counselor provides psychosocial support and advocacy for patients.- Develop and implement educational programs on genetics and hereditary cancer to health care providers and the community.- Assist with ethical, legal, and social issues regarding genetic information and
