Senior Genetic Counselor
This position entails providing leadership in building a system-wide genetics and genomics team in OBGYN to provide reproductive genetic counseling to prenatal and preconception patients as well as support research in this area.  Preconception and prenatal genetic counseling addresses the risk for genetic conditions in pregnancy. Common indications for patient referral include increased risk for single-gene disorders or multifactorial conditions, increased risk for chromosome abnormalities noted on cell-free DNA aneuploidy screening tests, increased risk for open neural tube defects noted on maternal serum AFP screening, fetal anomalies detected on ultrasound, risks due to ART, and teratogenic exposures in pregnancy. Patients are informed about the nature and the etiology
