The Department of Pathology, Microbiology, and Immunology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center seeks an ABGC or ABMG certified/eligible genetic counselor to join our team of genetic counselors and data scientists in the rapidly growing VUMC Clinical Genomics Laboratory (VCGL). This is a faculty position at the level of Assistant in Pathology, Microbiology, and Immunology.
The dynamic VCGL team includes physician medical directors, an operational manager, genetic counselors, variant scientists and laboratory technologists, who work collaboratively in performing whole exome and constitutional NGS panel testing for VUMC patients. Key responsibilities for the genetic counselor include:
Performs interpretation and analysis of genetic test results
Provides guidance to clinical staff regarding genetic testing and interpretation
Participates in development and maintenance of clinical workflows and processes
Participates in development of genetic testing policies and procedures
Assists in development of new genetic tests and integration of new technologies
Participates in education of medical students, residents, fellows and genetic counselor students
Academic rank and salary will be based on qualifications and experience.
