We are looking for 1 full time genetic counselor to join our busy pediatric genetics practice at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, an Orlando Health hospital. Our pediatric genetic counselors provide services in outpatient genetics clinic, multidisciplinary specialty clinics, and inpatient consults at Winnie Palmer and Arnold Palmer Hospitals. As an integral part of one of the largest neonatal intensive care units in the country, the genetics practice at Orlando Health provides an excellent opportunity to experience a clinically diverse patient population. Our new hire will be a part of our growing team, consisting of two pediatric genetic counselors, two full time geneticists, one part-time geneticist, genetics nurse practitioner, 2 metabolic dietitians, registered nurse, medical assistants, genetic counselor assistant, and social worker. Our pediatric counselors also work very closely with Orlando Health genetic counselors in the prenatal and cancer settings.

Essential Functions
Obtain and review patients’ medical and family histories.
Help assess a patient’s history in order to determine if the family may benefit from genetic testing.
Facilitate the process of genetic testing.
Assist patients and their healthcare providers in the interpretation of genetic test results.
Formulate a medical management plan based on the patient's history, family history and genetic test results.
Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
Chart preparation and medical records review.
Document patient interactions through patient and/physician summary letters.
Stay abreast of the latest research relating to genetics and genetic testing options.
Educate other healthcare providers and the general public about genetics.
Maintains required records, reports and files.
Attends meeting as required and participates on committees as directed.
Supervise genetic counseling students and provide genetic educations to rotating medical students, residents, and fellows
Performs other duties as assigned.
