Purpose:

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) plays an important role in achieving the scientific, educational, and business objectives of the company by furthering CBR’s scientific reputation and positioning CBR as an industry leader. The MSL will be a field-based resource for scientific/medical information for internal and external audiences. The MSL will gain an expert level knowledge in the stem cell science arena and will collaborate closely with field sales and healthcare marketing to ensure consistent messaging, current information, and the clinical perspective are integrated and aligned.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

• Develop scientific and medical newborn stem cell advocates
  • Promote and advocate for newborn stem cell banking and stem cell science within the professional fields of transplant and regenerative medicine, and other medical specialties as needed
  • Develop, cultivate and maintain productive relationships with key opinion leaders in areas relevant to CBR’s business including OBGYNs, Pediatricians, etc.
  • Expand influence within the healthcare environment through activities and affiliations with key professional organizations
  • Identify investigators and develop clinical research collaborations. Review clinical trial contracts, budgets, and conduct clinical trial site visits
  • Recommend, present and defend appropriate claims, scientific opinions, and interpretations to internal and external audiences
  • Attend select medical and scientific meetings to represent the company and maintain awareness of current issues and new research
  • Participate in medical and commercial advisory board activities
• Communicate medical/scientific information
  • Attend Field Sales initiated meetings and events to represent Scientific and Medical Affairs
  • Prepare and present material to CBR Regional Managers and external caregiver audiences through live and virtual meeting formats
  • Answer telephone calls and email messages from physicians, clinical office staff, clients, and field based sales staff regarding scientific and clinical issues
  • Create and maintain a field-based database of cord blood/stem cell basics and frequently asked questions
  • Develop, edit and review communications for scientific accuracy
• Collaborate with Healthcare Provider (HCP) Marketing
  • Train new candidates and existing members of CBR Speakers Bureau on CBR claims and scientific content and monitor their ongoing performance
  • Develop professional slide kits including power point presentations, speaker notes, etc.
  • Assist in the development of HCP marketing initiatives
  • Attend select tradeshows

Basic Qualifications:

• A science and clinical educational background (certified genetic counselor, women’s health nurse or nurse practitioner, certified nurse midwife, physician, etc.)
• Valid driver’s license
• The ability to present complex information clearly and concisely
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, team, written and verbal communication skills
• Strong presentation and educational skills

 Preferred Qualifications:

• A minimum of two (2) years clinical experience
• Advanced degree a plus (MS, NP, CNM, MD, DO, PhD)
• Experience in the Medical/Pharmaceutical/BioTech industry
• Functional expertise in stem cell science, transplant medicine, genetics, and/or women’s health

 Special Working Conditions:

• Based in a home office; 50% – 60% travel required
• Must be located in or near a major metropolitan area on the East Coast – preferably New York, New Jersey, Boston, or the greater DC-area
