Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) is one of the worlds premier cancer centers, committed to exceptional patient care, leading-edge research, and superb educational programs. The blending of research with patient care is at the heart of everything we do. The institution is a comprehensive cancer center whose purposes are the treatment and control of cancer, the advancement of biomedical knowledge through laboratory and clinical research, and the training of scientists, physicians and other health care workers.
The Clinical Genetics Research Lab, Sloan Kettering Institute is seeking a highly motivated and successful individual with a background in in-vitro/in-vivo modeling of disease alleles in cancer. The successful candidate will lead NIH supported projects esearcher to conduct molecular and biochemical experiments to allow functional characterization of novel candidate genes identified through next generation sequencing and assess their role in cancer susceptibility. Applicants with a curious mindset and interest in technology/assay development are especially encouraged to apply. We are looking for a molecular biologist, preferably with a background in germline genetics and cancer biology. The goal is to merge clinical, genotypic and molecular studies to dissect complex phenotypes seen in cancers. MSKCC provides an interactive setting with opportunities for collaboration with other independent research groups.
Current projects of interest focus on the role of DNA repair gene mutations in cancer susceptibility. The applicant should have a strong interest and ideally prior experience with DNA repair pathways and relevant biochemical assays. An interest in the development of new tools to interrogate genetic variants on a larger scale would be ideal.
