The Boston University Medical Group (BUMG) is recruiting for a part-time Genetic Counselor to care for patients in our Cancer Care Center and in the Departments of Pediatrics & Obstetrics and Gynecology.
BUMG and Boston Medical Center (BMC) seek a .5FTE genetic counselor to join the Departments of OB/GYN, Pediatrics and the Cancer Care Center starting in the summer of 2022. We seek candidates whose experience, teaching, research, or community service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and excellence. The ideal candidate has a passion for the care of historically underserved patients. Depending on the interests and skill-set of the candidate - the role could be a blended position, with focus likely split between reproductive genetics, pediatric and general genetics, and cancer genetics. The individual in this position must be comfortable providing care in-person as well as by telehealth.
Participation in faculty and staff education, cancer conferences and committees, tumor/fetal boards, and hospital quality assurance programs is expected, as relevant. Although these positions have primarily clinical responsibilities, all faculty members are expected to participate in scholarly activities and research. Applicants would also supervise genetic counseling students for the Boston University M.S. Genetic Counseling Program, working alongside a team of other GCs, the GC Program leadership, and a medical geneticist educating year 1 and year 2 GC student cohorts.
Emphasizing community-based care, BMC is the largest safety-net hospital in New England and is committed to providing consistently excellent and accessible health services to all. Applicants must have the ability to work collegially within a diverse environment and demonstrate a commitment to our institutional values regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our clinical services and research programs are focused on eliminating disparities in health care. The hospital is also the primary teaching affiliate of the nationally ranked Boston University School of Medicine. Boston University is a world-class research institution with more than $250 million in research grants each year.
Salary and level of academic appointment will be based upon experience and qualifications. Academic appointment will be at Boston University School of Medicine; rank is commensurate with experience and CV. We offer a competitive salary and an attractive benefits package.
