Position Description
The Coordinator of the Hereditary Cancer Program is responsible for all operational and clinical activities that facilitate patient access to Northside Hospital Cancer Institute’s (NHCI) Hereditary Cancer Program, including educational offerings, genetic counseling, and subsequent genetic testing, as appropriate. Consults with physicians and other health care providers and makes recommendations for appropriate services and patient health care management. The Coordinator will streamline service delivery within the hospital setting (Northside Hospital Atlanta, Forsyth, and Cherokee) and the outpatient environment (30+ outpatient infusion centers located within seven NHCI-defined regions across the state) including utilization of telemedicine for genetic counseling consults and selection of appropriate scheduling, communication, and/or electronic medical record platforms. May also participate in other research activities as directed.
Position Requirements REQUIRED: 1. Masters Degree in Human Genetics or Genetic Counseling 2. Licensed as a Genetic Counselor in the State of Georgia or valid Temporary License as a Genetic Counselor in the State of Georgia 3. Board Certification in Genetic Counseling by the ABMG or ABGC. 4. Two years of genetic counseling experience 5. Established leadership, management, and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to be highly motivated and work independently.
NOTE: Genetic Counselors employed prior to January 1, 2020 must have a submitted application for licensure on file with the State of Georgia by February 29, 2020 to continue working as a Genetic Counselor at Northside Hospital.
PREFERRED: 1. Membership in a professional genetic counseling organization. 2. Management / supervisory experience; demonstrated leadership skills.
