Performs pre- and post-test counseling in-person or remotely for carrier screening on new patients and pre-test counseling on all IVF patients to discuss PGD/PGS. Provide genetic counseling to individuals seeking fertility treatment with history of genetic conditions, family history of genetic condition or inherited cancer, balanced translocation carrier, consanguinity, male factor infertility requiring evaluation or premature ovarian failure and couples where both partners are carriers for the same condition on a carrier screen. Coordinates sample handling, processing, and follows up on test results from genetic testing in the practice. Assist the donor coordinator with carrier screening of donors. Assists with setting up protocols for the practice regarding genetics testing and results management.
TECHNICAL PROFICIENCIES REQUIRED
Ability to coordinate tests, track results, and facilitate results using required software. Utilize technology to schedule and/or conduct remote counseling meetings.
Regular attendance is required Monday – Friday. Schedules may include weekends as assigned by each department manager with alternating weekdays off. Schedules are subject to change due to department needs. Should there be a need to change hours or a schedule, supervisors will discuss the change in advance of making the change unless there is an urgent situation requiring the change.

Work closely with the ART nursing team to assist patients going through IVF and PGD/PGS so that they can understand the test results and which embryos to transfer.
Coordinates handling and processing of samples with laboratory. Follows up on test results, as needed.
Assists with setting genetics testing and results management protocols for the clinic.
Communicates with staff and implements genetics protocols.
Develops informational materials regarding genetics services provided by the clinic; distributes materials to patients considering genetic services.
Triages telephone calls to appropriate parties.
Other duties as assigned.

Ability to communicate with patients, providers, physicians and staff regarding protocols and procedures based on specific testing including risks involved and processes.
Ability to make an educated decision to determine the appropriate test and treatment plans; coordinates discussions between Physicians and patients regarding next steps.

Ability to develop marketing materials that are easily understandable by patients.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS
Certification, please list: Board Certification from the American Board of Genetic Counselors

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Master’s Degree in Genetic Counseling or related field
3-5 years as a Genetic Counselor or similar position educating and assessing the risk of genetic conditions in adult patients.
Experience scheduling tests and coordinating test results.
