Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, assists in the designing, testing, training, implementing and supporting of clinical systems for assigned site(s) ensuring that clinical processes are accurately reflected and supported. Serves as a liaison for the organization related to clinical systems implementation, support, and transformation activities. Acts as the Clinical Subject Matter Expert/Analystresponsible for providing insight into the operational department clinical processes and uses clinical process knowledge to integrate application use into those clinical processes. Performs complex analysis of current processes and new/existing technologies in order to assist in the management and processing of data, information and knowledge to support clinical practice and the delivery of patient care. Collaborates with clinicians and organizational leaders to identify data/information reporting needs, collect necessary data, analyze data and identify trends to improve organizational performance and clinical outcomes. Utilizes a comprehensive ongoing approach to address workflow optimization across the Detroit Medical Center system. Assists in the development of a communication plan and participates in communication activities related to clinical systems to all stakeholders. Participates in the design of the clinical application education program and is responsible for the accuracy of the training content. Functions using a system-wide focus to contribute to clinical process discussions and works to achieve system-wide consensus. Maintains a thorough understanding of clinical applications and clinical process flow throughout the Detroit Medical Center system. Acts as an agent of change in the promotion of a consistent approach to system implementation/change control planning, implementation/upgrade execution and workflow optimization. Evaluates and documents the potential impact of proposed organizational operational changes to clinical information systems and vice versa. Evaluates policies and procedures affected by automation and identify policies and procedures that need to be developed or revised.
1. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Bachelors degree in Nursing or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience preferred.
2. Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Michigan.
3. Three years experience as a direct patient care provider.
4. Two to three years recent healthcare clinical informatics experience, including experience with implementing clinical applications including planning, designing, testing, educating and supporting. Prior end user experience with Cerner solutions with organizational workflow experience preferred.
5. Experience with process improvement initiatives preferred.
