The Yale School of Medicine’s Section of Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM), within the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Science, is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible genetic counselor for full-time employment. This individual will work with one genetic counselor, fourteen MFM Attending physicians, and numerous other clinical staff, providing preconception and prenatal genetic counseling services to a predominantly high risk patient population. Responsibilities include eliciting pregnancy, medical, and family histories, educating patients and referring providers, coordinating screening and diagnostic testing, relaying test results, drafting visit notes and consultation letters and providing on-going psycho-social services. There will also be opportunities to supervise genetic counseling interns completing their master’s program clinical fieldwork training, interact with fellows, residents, and medical students, participate in weekly, multi-disciplinary Fetal Care Center meetings, attend clinical genetics case conferences and educational seminars, and become involved in a newly developed Perinatal Palliative Care and Bereavement Program. A successful candidate will have strong oral and written communication skills, solid interpersonal skills, comfort with computer operations, including experience with electronic medical record systems, and the ability to successfully prioritize responsibilities and multi-task.

Master’s Degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited genetic counseling program is required. Clinical experience is desired, but not required. New graduates are expected to sit for the ABGC certification exam within 6-12 months of graduation. Connecticut licensure required.
