The USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Hospital seeks a highly qualified, motivated, and enthusiastic Cancer Genetic Counselor. This position is a unique opportunity to provide top-level cancer care as part of a growing team of other genetic counselors, physicians, and researchers at an NCI-designated cancer center. USC Norris is one of the eight original comprehensive cancer centers designated by the NCI and has a mission to translate scientific discoveries into innovative therapies for its patients. The cancer center’s research breakthroughs have led the way to a greater understanding of the underlying causes of cancer and new methods of prevention, detection and treatment. The genetic counselor will provide state-of-the-art clinical care at an academic medical center, including facilitating genetic testing and risk assessment in cancer patients and their family members. The genetic counselor will work as critical member of the health care team to provide excellent patient care, and works closely with oncologists, surgeons, gastroenterologists, gynecologists, and other providers to incorporate genetics into a patient's cancer treatment and prevention plan. As an integral part of the research team, the genetic counselor will formulate and support research activities related to the fields of genetic counseling, cancer genomics, and precision oncology. The genetic counselor will have the opportunity to participate in all aspects of research including project formulation, grant submission, data analysis, and manuscript preparation. The genetic counselor will have the opportunity to submit journal publications and present data at national meetings. Minimum Requirements: Master's degree in genetic counseling, Certified by American Board of Genetic Counseling Certified or Active Candidate status. Must have a California State Genetic Counselor License. Minimum Experience/Knowledge: 2 year of experience in cancer genetic counseling is preferred but new graduates are welcome to apply. |
