What You Will Do
The Perinatal Genetic Counselor, as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, will provide personalized and compassionate care to families at risk. The Genetic Counselor will manage and coordinate all aspects of genetic evaluation, including risk assessment, counseling, testing, and support for individuals and families. The individual will serve as a resource to the multidisciplinary team and participate in perinatal conferences, women’s health program committees, and educational events.
Identifies families at risk for genetic disorders, children with birth defects, or a variety of other inherited conditions. Analyzes inheritance patterns and risks of recurrence.
Interprets complex genetic and laboratory data/test results. Communicates findings with physician.
Assists patients with navigation of financial aspects associated with genetic testing.
Assists with diagnosing genetic problems and develops short and long term genetic counseling plans.
Counselor specializing in Genetics credentialed from the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC).
Master's degree in Genetic Counseling
