The Children’s Mercy Hospital Clinical Genetics and Genomics Laboratories are seeking an additional laboratory genetic counselor to join our growing team. This position is well-suited to a dynamic, independent, detail-oriented individual who is eager to use cutting-edge genetic testing to diagnose and improve the health of children at risk of genetic disorders. Telecommuting is allowed for this position.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Review and evaluate genetic test orders to ensure proper utilization, including review of medical records and collaboration with clinical GCs
Facilitate genetic send-out testing
Notify providers of abnormal results
Coordinate a team of GC assistants/lab techs
Answer healthcare provider inquiries and serve as a clinical resource to staff and parents
Assist in development of patient consents, GC protocols, and SOPs
Write/collaborate on abstracts and papers
Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling
Board certified/Board Eligible by the American Board of Genetic Counseling or the American Board of Medical Genetics
Candidates with two or more years of clinical and/or laboratory GC experience preferred
