Job Summary: Responsible for providing prenatal and preconception genetic counseling. Elicit relevant medical and family history, provide psychosocial genetic counseling, and offer appropriate prenatal screening and testing to families at increased risk for genetic conditions or birth defects. Coordinating prenatal screening and testing, assist in charting, reporting normal and abnormal results. Counsel patients on all aspects of a prenatal diagnosis. Participate in the education of medical students, residents, and provide supervision of genetic counseling students. Maintain and improve current knowledge on genetics and advancements in the field of genetic testing and counseling. Works closely and collaborates with two other genetic counselors, the care providers of Maternal Fetal Medicine, and referring OB practices.
Minimum Requirements: Master's degree from a board accredited program in Genetic Counseling. Board eligible for certification as a genetic counselor by the American Board of Medical Genetics/Genetic Counseling.
Preferred Qualifications: One to three years of experience in prenatal genetic counseling preferred.
Licensure and Certifications: Must be a Licensed Genetic Counselor and have certification in Genetic Counseling by the American Board of Genetic Counselors, or be eligible for certification.
