An independent and experienced perinatal genetic counselor to join a growing High Risk Perinatal department with the expansion of a Fetal Therapy Program. - Develop and implement a genetic program to meet the needs of our high risk population and expanding programs to include creating and directing complex analysis of patient program information from a variety of data sources for program development. Coordinates the day to day operations for the perinatal genetic program. - Serve as an Inova System specialty resource to provide knowledge and management of perinatal genetic/congenital disorders and programs to include development of Telemedicine consultation. - Provide comprehensive genetics counseling for maternal serum screening, complex fetal anomalies and family histories of genetics syndromes. - Coordinates and documents contacts and follow up recommendations, including referrals and scheduling of tests/procedures. - Collaborates and provides expert consultation with MFMs, referring physicians and other health care providers to enhance the level of care for patient affected by, or at risk for, genetic/congenital conditions. - Develop and implements a plan of care for complex, high risk patients collaborating with the Inova Fetal Care Program for continuum of care. - Provide genetic educational programs for physicians, nurses, sonographers and other health care providers in the community. - Initiates and participates in collaborative research projects, written articles and professional presentation.
4-5 or more years of experience in Perinatal Genetic Counseling. Masters degree in genetic counseling. Certification by American board of Genetic Counseling or board eligible. If board eligible, must obtain certification within two years of employment.
