Provides professional leadership and technical skills and knowledge to ensure accurate and timely performance of laboratory services and reporting of results to responsible party. Coordinates the technical and administrative functions for the operations of the Clinical Laboratory. Responsible for implementing and maintaining a Quality Assurance program, establishing and maintaining an approved procedure manual, verification of the test procedures performed and establishment of the laboratory's test performance characteristics, including the precision and accuracy of each test and test system, establishing and maintaining an approved Proficiency Testing (PT) program, verifying test systems have established acceptable performance specifications for the performance characteristics of accuracy, precision, analytical sensitivity, and analytical specificity, establishing a program for troubleshooting, maintenance and calibration of instrumentation and equipment used to perform the testing, resolving technical problems and ensuring that remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications, evaluating test results for completeness, accuracy and quality and ensuring that patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is functioning properly, identifying training needs and assuring that each individual performing tests receives regular in-service training and education, evaluating the competency of all testing personnel and assuring that the staff maintain their competency to perform test procedures and report test results promptly, accurately and proficiently. Requires a Clinical Laboratory Scientist license issued by the State of California.Possesses the knowledge and skills necessary to provide accurate and timely testing of clinical laboratory specimens in multiple laboratory disciplines. Good clinical judgment and problem solving abilities. Knowledge of laboratory regulation and successful survey experience.Demonstrates good communication skills.Can work in team based environments. Exercises good judgment in prioritizing projects. Bachelor in Science degree in Clinical Science or equivalent
One year internship in California approved program or equivalent
Prefer 6 years of previous acute care clinical laboratory experience in leadership role
Knowledge of Cerner Millennium, MS Word and MS Excel desirable
Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License
