You will be the regarded counselor to individuals, couples, or families who are expecting or who have an increased chance of having a child with a birth defect or genetic condition.
This is an amazing opportunity for a Prenatal Genetic Counselor (PGC) who wants to be on a highly regarded team. Sacred Heart’s Regional Perinatal Center – offers Northwest Florida’s only center providing specialized care for pregnant women. It is one of only 11 centers in Florida that provide specialized care for women with high risk pregnancies, women who are at risk for complications during pregnancy or whose unborn children are not developing as expected.
As our Prenatal Genetic Counselor, you will provide medical education about the condition in question, explain their risks, and discuss options for prenatal screening and testing; and ultimately prepare them for the birth of a child with special needs.
Additionally, as our Prenatal Genetic Counselor, you will: •Identify families at risk for genetic disorders, children with birth defects, or a variety of other inherited conditions. Analyze inheritance patterns and risks of recurrence. •Interpret complex genetic and laboratory data/test results. Communicate findings with physician. •Assist patients with navigation of financial aspects associated with genetic testing. •Assist with diagnosing genetic problems and develop short and long term genetic counseling plans.
About Our Team
The Regional Perinatal Center (RPC) at Sacred Heart Hospital is a busy, private perinatal group. Our Perinatal Center provides fantastic opportunities for prenatal counseling regarding fetal anomalies, prenatal testing (screening and diagnostic), preconception counseling, etc. Our office currently has one Genetic Counselor and 3 Maternal Fetal Medicine physicians; and multiple outreach clinics ranging from Fort Walton Beach to Crestview that involve our Genetic Counselors! This provides many opportunities to educate the community, and make a huge impact on growing families!
Additionally, Sacred Heart Hospital works closely with the OB/GYN and Pediatric residents through the University of Florida, allowing for resident education.

What You Need:
Certification: •Board certified (or Board eligible) by the American Board of Genetic Counseling or American Board of Medical Genetics •Current Basic Life Support certification required. This can be completed upon hire.
Education: •Master’s degree in Genetics/Genetic Counseling from ABGC-accredited genetic counseling training program
Work Experience: •Valid driver’s license required.
Employer will assist with relocation costs.
Additional Salary Information: $5,000 Relocation bonus to be paid on the first pay period after start.
