Responsible for assisting patients and their families understand and adapt to the medical, psychological and familial implications of inherited disorders and conditions. This role includes: Obtaining and reviewing medical and family histories, including pedigree construction; Interpreting family/medical histories to assess the risk of disease occurrence or recurrence; Providing education with respect to inheritance, testing options, disease/risk management, disease prevention, resources and research; Reviewing medical records and documenting patient visits; Coordinating and participating in research projects as a co-investigator. Must be computer literate and proficient with Microsoft Office suite software. Must be reliable, and be effective in written and oral communication.
Qualifications: Experience should include pediatric genetic counseling and research. Applicants must be certified by or at least examination-eligible for the American Board of Genetic Counselors or American Board of Medical Genetics board certification in Genetic Counseling.
