Speciality: Pediatric Specialities and Outpatient Oncology
Pediatric Specialty work includes care of inpatient and outpatient Pediatric, Level III NICU, Cleft Lip and Palate clinic, Cystic Fibrosis Clinic patients
Specialty support on site includes; MFM, Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics, Pediatric Surgery, Pediatric Hospitalist service, as well as additional adult and pediatric specialties such as Cardiology, Psychology, Urology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Pulmonology, and Sleep.
Documents all patient interaction, significant observations, interventions, and actions taken in the patient's medical record.
Provides genetic counseling to patients and families regarding genetics risk, diagnosis, and diagnostic testing.
Serves as a clinical resource person and effectively shares clinical expertise with staff, students, and community in both formal and informal teaching sessions.
Temporary Licensed Genetic Counselors shall practice only under the supervision of a qualified supervisor.
Analyze genetic information to identify patients or families at risk for specific disorders or syndromes
Assess patients' psychological or emotional needs in managing test outcomes.
Interpret laboratory results and communicate findings to patients or physicians.

Master’s degree from an American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) required. Accredited genetic counseling training program or equivalent.
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Certification or eligibility for certification by the ABGC or the American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG) required. Illinois state licensure of ability to obtain Illinois state licensure required. Temporary Licensed Genetic Counselor must be licensed within 90 days.
