A dynamic and motivated person who is interested in joining a team of two genetic counselors and helping to grow the genetics services offered throughout the Franciscan Alliance.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Meet with patients and families to evaluate personal and family history for the likelihood of genetic contribution to disease.
Educate patients and families about possible hereditary conditions for which they may be at risk and the implications of these risks within the context of the patient’s personal and family history
Assess patient’s psychological or emotional needs such as those related to stress, fear of test results, financial issues, and familial conflicts to make referral recommendations or assist patients in managing outcomes.
Facilitate genetic testing for appropriate patients
Interpret laboratory results and communicate findings to patient and physicians.
Provide documentation of genetic counseling appointments and test results to the patient and their healthcare providers
Collaborate with physicians and healthcare providers to determine appropriate referrals, genetic testing, and medical management options based on genetic test results
Educate physicians, healthcare providers, and staff about relevant information regarding genomic health

Strong oral, written, and nonverbal communication skills
Strong computer skills
Master’s in Genetic Counseling Required
1-3 Years’ Experience Preferred
License(s): Indiana license required
Certification(s): Board certified by the ABGC or board eligible
