Comprehensive Genetics, a private prenatal practice on the upper east side of Manhattan, is looking for a board certified/board eligible prenatal genetic counselor. This is a full time position which requires counseling patients for nuchal translucency sonograms; first trimester screening and NIPT screening; CVS, amniocentesis, and fetal reduction procedures; and abnormal sonogram findings. You are the only GC in the office and work almost exclusively with one doctor in a practice space shared by 5 independent Ob/Gyns, therefore the role offers a great deal of independence. The GC is expected to: see patients; manage databases; send consult letters to referring OBs; maintain contact/relationships with laboratories used for testing, including arrange specialty testing prior to patient visits; communicate with patients prior to and after visits (call out all results); as well as work with rotating MFMs/other collaborators on ongoing research projects. Excellent communication and organization skills are a must. This is a great job for someone who is detail-oriented and willing to take initiative to solve problems. The position includes ample opportunities to attend conferences for education/CEU maintenance and to participate in authoring research papers.
master’s degree from an American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) accredited genetic counseling training program or equivalent
