The Department of Pediatrics - Center for Development, Behavior & Genetics at Upstate in Syracuse, NY, is seeking a board-certified (or eligible) Genetic Counselor to join their team of expert professionals.
The Genetic Counselor at Upstate works full-time in consultation with board-certified Clinical Geneticists within the Section of Medical Genetics, and occasionally with other referring physicians. The scope of the practice includes pediatric and adult consultation and evaluation services. The pediatric component includes close collaboration with the clinical geneticists for general genetic patients including evaluation of referred patients for autism spectrum, intellectual disability, and malformations. The adult component includes consultation and evaluation for neurodegenerative, connective tissue, cardiovascular and hematologic disorders. The counselor may also see patients in other specialty clinics such as craniofacial clinic and cystic fibrosis. The group also is active in clinical genetics research, publishing and presenting at national meetings on Our Clinical Histocompatibility Laboratory provides support for a vigorous and rapidly expanding solid organ transplant program, a bone marrow transplant program, and also functions as the regional referral laboratory for other Histocompatibility needs.
