Advocate Children’s Hospital is seeking a fulltime board certified/board eligible genetic counselor to join our expanding team of geneticists and genetic counselors.
Position: Genetic Counselor Pediatrics– Full-Time Day Shift
What you will do:
Work as a member of a healthcare team providing genetic counseling to patients and families in the General Genetics Clinic, several multidisciplinary clinics (Craniofacial Clinic, DiGeorge Syndrome Clinic, Biochemical Genetics Clinic), as well as the Cystic Fibrosis Newborn Screening Program.
Provide genetic education, risk assessment, immediate and ongoing support and coordination for families, discussion of testing options and test coordination, interpretation of laboratory results, and communication of findings.
Provide genetics education to medical students, residents, and the community.
Master’s Degree in Genetic Counseling and ABGC Board Certified/Eligible. Licensure/Temporary Licensure required in Illinois.

$1,000 disbursement upon hire

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
MS degree in Genetic Counseling from accredited program.
Computer (PC) experience and proficiency.
High level of attention to details.
Solid interpersonal skills.
Solid communication skills.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
To enable graduate of qualified genetic counseling program to work in a Genetics practice while awaiting temporary licensure. This includes providing nonclinical ...support to genetic counselors, completing a variety of duties associated with daily practice operations.
Manages the referral processes for diagnostic procedures and/or specialist appointments.
Facilitates the provision of timely information related to the genetics consultation to patients, their families, and referring/primary care physicians.
Ensures availability of needed medical and insurance information prior to genetic counseling appointment.
Works within department guidelines to provide excellent customer service.
Supports department operations and coworkers by completing other duties as assigned or requested.
