Providence is calling a Genetics Counselor (2 positions: Pediatric Full Time and Pediatric/Adult Cancer, Full Time) to Providence Medical Group in Spokane, Washington.

In this position you will: • Coordinate all aspects of clinical genetic counseling, case management, and follow up. • Provide genetic education, assessment of risks and psychosocial status, immediate and ongoing support for families, discussion of testing options with consideration of financial aspects, coordination of testing, interpretation of laboratory results, communication of findings, and appropriate clinical documentation. • Participate in a general genetics with a primary focus on adult and pediatric genetics with opportunities for involvement in cardiology, neurology and prenatal genetic counseling. • Work closely with a team consisting of medical geneticists, genetic counselors, and support staff. • Coordinates and oversees clinical activities and service to ensure appropriate, quality and efficient service is delivered to patients and the medical community. Maintains open lines of communication with referring physicians, laboratories, consultants etc. • May perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Required qualifications for this position include: • Graduation from an Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling accredited program • Current Washington State Genetic Counselor license or ability to obtain Washington State licensure • Current certification or eligibility of certification by the American Board of Medical Genetics or the American Board of Genetic Counseling • Must be approved for Medicaid reimbursement, maintain privileges at local hospitals and maintain licensure/certifications
