The Clinical Genetic Counselor evaluates the medical history of the patient and family to assess risk of genetic disease in an adult patient population. The Clinical Genetic Counselor will be part of building a streamlined genetics framework for cutting edge medical care and will have responsibility for the following tasks: • Perform risk assessments to determine likelihood of genetic contribution to disease. • Work with physicians to help integrate genetics into patient care. • Stay current on information regarding specific genetic syndromes, available testing, and research opportunities. • Assist in writing publications and recruiting patients for research. • Provide a written summary regarding the risk assessment and results of genetic testing for the patient and referring physician. • Provide education and counseling about genetic conditions, risks, recommended screenings, prevention options, inheritance patterns, and resources to patients. • Provide educational presentations to healthcare professionals and community groups regarding the role of genetics in health and disease.

• Master’s Degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited program, required • ABGC Certified; OR obtain certification within the first 2 years of employment
