Fresno is a city of over half-a-million located in the sunny Central Valley of California. As the largest city between San Francisco and Los Angeles, we serve a population of over a million inhabitants of diverse ethnic backgrounds. Community Regional Medical Center, closely affiliated with UCSF-Fresno, is the largest provider of health care in the Valley. CRMC offers genetic consultation and counseling services in all areas of clinical genetics. Our growing Genetics staff now includes two M.D. Clinical Geneticists, one PH.D. Medical Geneticist and four Genetic Counselors. The Oncology department is seeking a full-time Genetic Counselor to join our Ph.D. Medical Geneticist in providing genetic consultation and counseling in all areas of cancer genetics. We are excited about the move to our new 100,000 square foot Community Oncology Institute, opening in August 2018 on our Clovis Hospital campus. Services provided in the Institute will include treatment for all types of cancer, multidisciplinary tumor boards and clinics, and a myriad of support services to help patients and their families navigate diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. Fresno is situated an easy 2-3 hour drive from the Pacific Coast and from Yosemite and King’s Canyon national parks. In addition to the UCSF Medical Education (residency) program, Fresno is home to California State Fresno and to several community colleges and professional schools.
REQUIREMENTS -- Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling (or Ph.D. in Medical Genetics) from an accredited program. Board-certified or eligible. -- Valid work permit. State of California Genetic Counselor license (temporary status acceptable) or eligibility -- Experience as a genetic counselor preferred but not required -- Working knowledge of a second language (Spanish, Asian or Mid-eastern languages) is a plus. -- Enthusiasm and strong work ethic, willingness to learn and grow as part of a multidisciplinary oncology team!
Additional Salary Information: Years of experience as genetic counselor, or possession of a higher degree (e.g. Ph.D.) will be taken into account

Community Regional Medical Center is a regional academic medical center linked to the UCSF-Fresno Medical Education Program. Our facilities include two full-service hospitals, a hospital for cardiovascular care and an outpatient cancer center. In August 2018 we will open a 100,000 square foot cancer center encompassing all aspects of cancer care.
The Medical Genetics department at the downtown hospital covers prenatal genetics, pediatric genetics, general adult genetics and cardiovascular care, and is staff by two ABMG-certified Clinical Geneticists and four Genetic Counselors. Oncology Services at our Cancer Center is staffed by a Ph.D. Medical Geneticist.
