Wolfson Children’s Hospital is expanding their pediatric genetics program and actively recruiting for two pediatric genetic counselors to join their team. The counselor will be involved in both inpatient and outpatient care, will participate in craniofacial, NF, and connective tissue multidisciplinary clinics, and will help coordinate newborn screening follow-up for positive cystic fibrosis screens. The counselor will assist the geneticist in obtaining personal & family medical histories, creating and analyzing pedigrees, determining if genetic testing is appropriate, coordinating genetic testing send-outs, and interpreting test results. In addition to these duties, the counselor will provide counseling and psychosocial support to patients and families. The ideal candidate is a team player who will maintain proficiencies in practice-based competencies that include but are not limited to the possession of excellent communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal/psychosocial assessment skills.

Our multidisciplinary team is composed of specially trained genetic counselors and physicians who work together to provide hereditary cancer risk assessment, genetic counseling, genetic testing, individualized screening, and prevention programs to people who are concerned about their personal and family history of cancer.
