ARUP Laboratories, a national reference laboratory located in Salt Lake City, Utah, is looking for a Laboratory Genetic Counselor to join our team. Qualified individuals will have a Master’s Degree in Genetic Counseling or equivalent, and be certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABCG) or have active candidate status. This position covers multiple genetic sub-specialties at ARUP and provides genetic consultation services to clients and healthcare providers regarding genetic testing. Work on-site in multiple genetic sub-specialties at ARUP
Provide genetic consultation services to clients and health care providers regarding genetic disease and testing
Provide utilization management for genetic testing at ARUP, including evaluation, cancellation, addition, and modification of test orders
Serve as a resource for multiple work units/departments within ARUP and work as a team to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and maintain high standards of patient care
Be available to answer daily calls from clients, physicians, and others requesting information on various disciplines, including molecular, cytogenetics, and biochemical genetics
Contact physicians and clients to clarify clinical information about tests in a timely manner
Assist with writing technical bulletins and test result interpretations for newly developed tests
Aid in the continual update of the ARUP genetics website, marketing materials and other writing projects
Participate as an educator in laboratory rotations for the University of Utah Genetic Counselor Program
Generate presentations for ARUP employees or various local medical facilities
Master's Degree in Genetic Counseling or equivalent, or current enrollment in a program with anticipated graduation in spring 2018
Board certification in Genetic Counseling or board eligibility from the American Board of Genetic Counseling Certification or American Board of Medical Genetics
Licensed or eligible for genetic counseling licensure in the State of Utah
