The Department of Pediatrics at the University of South Florida offers an opportunity for a dynamic individual to become an integral member of the Division of Genetics and Metabolism. The group currently includes three medical geneticists, three genetic counselors and two metabolic dietitians.
This position provides a unique opportunity to serve a wide variety of pediatric, metabolic, and adult patients in central and southwest Florida. We are one of three designated centers for the State of Florida Newborn Screening Program and provide genetics services through the state funded Children’s Medical Services Program. Primary clinical responsibilities include providing genetic counseling services for our metabolic and genetic patients following established practice guidelines, coordinating genetic testing, and communicating results to patients and referring clinicians. There is frequent interaction and communication with a wide variety of medical professionals, directly, through clinical encounters, and through regularly scheduled interdisciplinary conferences focused on advancing professional knowledge and skills to ensure optimal patient care.
Teaching opportunities are available in our Genetic Counseling Master’s program at USF Health. Participation in clinical research is encouraged.

MINIMUM: This position requires a Bachelor's degree or Master's in Education, Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, or other field appropriate to the program content. Bachelor's degree candidates must have at least two years of applicable experience. Board Certification or Eligibility in Genetic Counseling (ABMG, ABGC). The Master's degree may substitute for the required experience.
PREFERRED: A Master's Degree is preferred. Functional Spanish language skills preferred.
