We are currently seeking Genetic Counselor to join the Maternal Fetal Medicine Practice at Orlando Health team with the following qualifications:
Master’s Degree required in Genetic Counseling
Certified Genetic Counselor by the American Board of Medical Genetics (ABGC) or American Board of Genetic Counselors or Board Eligible.
Full time, board certified or board eligible genetic counselor for large prenatal diagnosis program at Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Infants (14,000 + deliveries/year). Position includes diverse patient population of prenatal and preconception patients, multidisciplinary care coordination, education of Ob/Gyn and Pediatric residents, as well as staff and community education. Join 4 prenatal counselors and 7 Perinatologists. Collaborate with 3 pediatric geneticists and genetic counselors to service the world’s largest NICU. Experience preferred, but not required.
Provides prenatal and preconception genetic counseling.
Dictate letters to referring providers and, as needed, to patients to ensure accurate and timely feedback regarding patient encounters
Disclose normal and abnormal results to patients and referring physicians as needed.
Analyze and interpret clinical/laboratory findings.
Facilitates communication across the spectrum of prenatal and pediatric subspecialists and implements process improvement strategies that improve patient care. This may include instructing patients on the process and protocols for consultation with pediatric subspecialists.
Advise and assist staff upon the appropriateness of patient referrals and requisite medical records.
Mentor genetic counseling colleagues and supervision of genetic counseling students as needed.
Education of OB/GYN residents through lectures and observation of genetic counseling.
Additional teaching opportunities are also available including community outreach & education and participation with a proposed Genetic Counseling Training Program.
