Position Summary: The Genetic Counselor is responsible for the delivery of services and resources for the genetic counseling, evaluation and follow-up services for individuals and family members suspected to have an inherited predisposition to cancer.
In this role you will:
Identify and counsel individuals and families at risk of familial and hereditary cancer syndromes.
Active participation in community outreach activities
Active participation in research
Active participation in Tumor Board Conference
Have the ability to function independently
Under the supervision of the Medical Oncologist, exercise independent judgement in gathering information from the patient and referring physician
Graduate of an accredited Genetic Counseling Program with Master's Degree in Genetic Counseling.
Board Certified or board eligible by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABCG) or American College of Medical Genetics (ACMG)
Knowledge acquired through education and/or work experience in Cancer Services Department, Cancer Genetics Counseling.
Successful Completion of clinical rotation in an accredited Genetic Counseling Training Program.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in genetic counseling preferred.
Proficient with Progeny, PC applications and databases. Experience with electronic medical records (Greenway) is desired.
CITI Training (Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative) preferred
