Job Duties: Oversees, guides and audits the clinical practice, operations and compliance related to the cleaning, disinfection and sterilization of instrumentation for the Johns Hopkins Hospital Department of Surgery (48 inpatient and 8 outpatient O.R.s) as well as other Hospital and JHHS entities (clinics etc.). Establishes departmental quality goals and objectives, and develops and implements standardized departmental policies and procedures. Demonstrates extensive and complete knowledge of Hospital as well as outside regulatory agency requirements such as infection control guidelines, AORN standards, JCAHO, AAMI and IAHCSMM (International Association of Hospital Central Service and Materials Management) and effectively applies this knowledge to manage systems and processes to ensure the highest level of patient care and personnel development.
Provides effective and robust leadership needed to achieve unit, department and institutional objectives in a complex and changing environment. Actively collaborates with Hospital infection control and regulatory departments as well as multidisciplinary teams to improve institution's cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization processes. Promotes innovation and excellence in clinical, service, and team performance.
Full Time (40 hours)
Education: A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a clinical discipline, business administration, or operational science is required. An advanced degree in nursing or business/management is preferred.
Certification/Licensure: Must have a current Certification from the International or American Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management Organization within one year of hire. Certified Instrumentation Specialist, IAHCSMM and/or Approved Certified Educator (ACE), IAHCSMM preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 7 years of clinical or healthcare related experience is required. A minimum of 3 years management experience is required.
