Roswell Park Cancer Institute is seeking a Genetic Counselor, a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant. The Genetic Counselor provides genetic counseling and consulting services to patients at Roswell Park Cancer Institute and those referred to the Clinical Genetics Service; supports clinically-related genetics research; serves as an Institute and community resource for aspects and issues related to human genetics. Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will provide genetic counseling and consults to current patients of RPCI as well as patients being referred to Genetic Services.
GENETIC COUNSELOR Applicants must have a Master’s degree in Genetics or a related field. In addition, possession of or eligibility for an American Board of Medical Genetics or American Board of Genetic Counselors board certification in Genetic Counseling, Human Genetics or equivalent is required.
NURSE PRACTITIONER License and Certification Requirements: 1. License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York; and 2. Current Nurse Practitioner certification in New York State; and 3. Certification or eligibility for certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or other national certifying body recognized by Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA).
Education and Experience: Master’s degree in Nursing. NOTES: As a condition of continued employment, incumbents must obtain certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or other national certifying body recognized by Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) within nine (9) months of their appointment to this title as required by Medicare.
PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT The applicant must have a Bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant Studies; or a Bachelor's degree and completion of a Physician Assistant Certificate Program recognized by the New York State Education Department as well as a License to practice as a Registered Physician Assistant in the State of New York and a Certification as a Registered Physician Assistant by the National Commission for Certification of Physicians Assistants (NCCPA) or other national certifying body recognized by the New York State Education Department.
