Aurora Health Care in Eastern Wisconsin has an opening for a 1.0 FTE cancer genetic counselor. In addition to providing cancer risk assessment to our patient population, this position has a unique opportunity to be an integral part of our Hereditary Cancer Prevention and Management Center (HCPMC). This clinic is a collaborative effort between the system-wide Genomic Medicine program and the Medical Oncology department and also interacts with the City of Hope Cancer Screening and Prevention Program. The purpose of the HCPMC is to establish medical management, coordination of care and follow up for families with multi-organ cancer risks due to hereditary cancer syndromes. The genetic counselor and medical oncologist educate patients and families, create medical management plans, and provide cascade testing to family members. The team also provides consultations on cases to other providers and has its own tumor board. In addition to working in the HCPMC, there are opportunities to work with our Precision Medicine clinic, a state of the art clinic using somatic tumor testing to identify patients with hereditary cancer syndromes.
Applicant will join 10 genetic counselors and who see prenatal patients and/or adult hereditary disease patients throughout the healthcare system. In addition to clinical genetics work, the position includes program development, genetic counseling student supervision, community education, media presentations and philanthropic endeavors.

Masters degree in genetics/genetic counseling from an ABGC/ACGC/ABMG accredited program. 3 years of cancer genetic counseling experience a plus, but new graduates will be considered.
